Legality: what can go in your Commander deck

The Star Trek release notes confirm where the new cards can be played. Cards with the TRK set code are allowed in Standard, Pioneer and Modern, and also in Commander and other formats [3].

The Commander product cards carry the TRC code. New TRC cards are legal in Commander, Legacy and Vintage. Previously printed cards that appear with the TRC code are legal in any format where a card of the same name is allowed [3]. Cards with the SDS (Stardates) code follow that same rule [3].

The notes also say that not every card is covered. They are meant to clear up confusion about new mechanics and interactions, and they were last modified on September 15, 2026 [3]. The set releases on November 13, 2026 [2].

Two new lands that make a New Planet

Scryfall's newest reveals include two utility lands. Temporal Anomaly taps for colorless mana. Later you can pay {3}{G}, tap it and sacrifice it to mill four cards. You may put a permanent card from among them into your hand, and you also get a tapped Planet token named New Planet that taps for any color [9]. It was previewed by Magic Arena - MundoTK [9].

Gaseous Anomaly is the blue version. It costs {5}{U}, tap and sacrifice to draw two cards, and it also makes a New Planet [9]. MKAU Gaming previewed it [9].

Both lands replace themselves with a land that fixes colors. That matters in Commander, where the colorless slot usually costs you something. The sacrifice costs are fairly high, so they suit slower decks.

U.S.S. Cerritos, Following Up

U.S.S. Cerritos, Following Up is a five-mana legendary artifact Spacecraft. When it enters, you get two 1/1 red Officer tokens. It also has Station: you tap another creature you control, and it adds charge counters equal to that creature's power. Station works only as a sorcery. At 6+ counters it becomes an artifact creature with flying [9].

PixelsMixel previewed it [9]. The two tokens give you bodies to station right away. Whether it can lead a deck is something we'll work out once the full text is visible. For now it looks like a way to make small creatures useful in red decks.

Booster scene cards and unused art

Wizards has listed the scene cards for the set. Four booster scenes appear in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters, in non-foil and traditional foil [2]:

  • Unimatrix Zero: 6 cards, by Gal Or [2]
  • Deep Space Find: 9 cards, by Marija Tiurina [2]
  • Mirror, Mirror: 6 cards, by Mark Spears [2]
  • Showdown at Sector 001: 4 cards, by Nicky Barkla [2]

There are also two Scene Boxes, Divergent Timeline and Enterprise-Q [2]. Separately, Wizards shared 27 pieces of art from the cancelled Star Trek Beginner Box [1]. They say they are still considering what to do with the art in the future [1].

Deck guides and ship-ramp ideas

Card Kingdom published an upgrade guide for the Klingon Fury Commander deck. It features Korok, Liberated Rage [8]. The excerpt we have is only the introduction, so we can't say which upgrades it recommends.

EDHREC's Too-Specific Top 10 covers colorless ramp for Starship Enterprise, a ship that can be a commander. It counts cards that put lands onto the battlefield, including The Regalia, PuPu UFO, Oblivion Sower and Explorer's Scope [6]. The writer notes that The Regalia can get the Enterprise into creature mode in two turns if you have land drops in hand [6].

Other EDHREC pieces today cover Isshin, Two Heavens as One [4], Marvo, Deep Operative [5] and a Shade typal deck led by Ihsan's Shade [7].
