About EDHTracker News
Editorial standards
EDHTracker News is a short daily edition on Magic: The Gathering and Commander. It is written with AI from linked sources. This page explains how an edition is made and what we do when we get something wrong.
How an edition is made
1. Sources are collected
Every morning an automated job reads a fixed list of sources: the Scryfall card database (new cards and their official preview credits), the Wizards of the Coast news page, and the public feeds of EDHREC, MTGGoldfish, Card Kingdom and Star City Games. Leaks and rumours are not used; a card is only featured with an official preview source.
2. AI drafts the edition
A language model (Anthropic's Claude) picks the most relevant stories, with extra weight on Commander, and writes a draft in its own words. Every section has to cite numbered sources from that morning's input. The model names cards; their images and data come from Scryfall, never from the model.
3. The draft is checked automatically
Code then checks the draft: every card name must match a real card on Scryfall, every citation must point to a real source, quotes are short (25 words or fewer, at most one per source), text that copies too much of any one source is flagged, and card images may only come from Scryfall. A draft that fails these checks is never published automatically.
4. An editor reviews and publishes
Automatic publishing is currently switched on: an edition that passes the checks can go live without a person reading it first. Editors still review editions after publication and correct them when needed.
Sources and credit
Every section of an article links to the sources it is based on, and a numbered source list closes each article. We summarise and link; we do not republish other outlets' articles or images. Card data and images come from Scryfall, and each previewed card credits the outlet that previewed it.
Corrections
When an article contains a mistake, we fix it in the article and add a note under Corrections saying what changed. An article that has been changed after publication shows when it was last updated.
Independence
EDHTracker News is free and has no paid placements. It is unofficial fan content and is not approved or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast.
